PocketGrib: Global Weather Data Analysis on the Go

With PocketGrib, you have the convenience of downloading, viewing, and analyzing global weather data wherever you are.

Our powerful GRIB viewer interface allows you to access wind, precipitation, pressure, temperature, wave, and other data extracted from GRIB files.

Whether you are a sailor, windsurfer, storm chaser, outdoor enthusiast, or a professional meteorologist, PocketGrib is perfect for you.

Key Features

  • Select your map location and overlay weather information
  • Animate weather maps for better visualization
  • View weather as a meteogram (graph) or raw data
  • Configurable file download to minimize file sizes (ideal for roaming)
  • Download GRIB files to your PC via iTunes
  • Access information both online and offline
  • Support for third-party GRIB files

PocketGrib provides downloads and displays the following weather types:

  • Wind speed and direction (10m above ground/sea)
  • Precipitation (rain, snow, etc.)
  • Pressure
  • Air temperature
  • Waves (including Mediterranean and Black Sea)
  • Cloud cover
  • Relative humidity
  • CAPE (Convective Atmospheric Potential Energy)
  • Current (Atlantic only)
  • 500mb Height

You can also directly download GRIB data from NOAA's GFS (Global Forecast System) model:

  • Forecasts up to 8 days in advance
  • Data steps available every 3, 6, and 12 hours
  • Worldwide coverage
  • Resolution options: 0.25°, 0.5°, 1°, 2°
  • Data updated 4 times a day (every 6 hours)

Furthermore, PocketGrib supports COAMPS (0.2° resolution), WW3, NOGAPS, RTOFS (Currents), and FNMOC WW3 (Mediterranean wave) models.

It is important to note that GRIB forecasts are published without human intervention or review. As a result, users should have a certain level of knowledge and awareness. It is recommended to combine the use of GRIB models with specific hurricane and tropical cyclone forecasts as these models do not accurately predict them.
